The Current Facility

In the fall of 2008 the PRPRC moved from its original location at 128 Commercial Park to a decommissioned elementary school at 255 Murray Drive in Tumbler Ridge. The new museum facility is located on the upper bench in a residential area of Tumbler Ridge. This facility was provided for museum use by the District of Tumbler Ridge.

The first year at the new location was dedicated to completing basic internal renovations that were necessary to convert the building for use as a museum with research, collections and display areas. The South Peace Economic Development Commission and the North Peace Economic Development Commission generously contributed $50,000 each towards renovations. Funding for renovations and exhibit development was provided through the Pine Beetle Recovery Fund, Northern Development Initiative Trust and the Community Adjustment Fund.

On May 15, 2010 the P.R.P.R.C.'s newly upgraded Dinosaur Discovery Gallery was formally unveiled at a well-attended Grande Opening Ceremony which also coincided with the Second Annual Peace Region Palaeontology Symposium.

Further building renovations and improvements are currently underway and more are planned for the future.
