Chemical Preparation

In addition to the mechanical preparation techniques mentioned above, the P.R.P.R.C. is also exploring means of chemical preparation of some of the material. Rock that was removed to get at the larger bones from the dinosaur excavation may contain bones that were too small to find with regular excavation techniques. Thousands of pounds rocks were airlifted out of the canyon and will be tested with a variety of chemicals to see if they will come apart, hopefully exposing more skeletal material. It is hoped that small bones, teeth and vertebrae may be recovered by this process which will add to the faunal list of the Kaskapau Formation.
